WayFinder Logistics is a fast-growing, third-party logistics (3PL) company offering freight brokerage (non-asset-based transportation) services, including intermodal, rail, truckload and LTL brokerage, transportation management and international services.
WayFinder seeks a personable and highly organized Operations Assistant to join our team.
There will be a focus on avoiding issues prior to their occurrence (proactive vs. reactive) in order to mitigate risk and promote smooth transactional work flow. You will learn the ins and outs of a 3PL (Logistics Brokerage) and how WayFinder specifically achieves business goals. As a backbone to the carrier team, an Operations Intern creates and implements compliance standards that ensure best business practices are met.
Supervisory responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage current and future business relationships with trucking companies across the United States and Canada
- Track active WayFinder shipments to ensure smooth transit and delivery of loads
- Inquire about driver ETAs and inform supervisor/Account Manager of any issues or delays
- Ensure compliance requirements are met in accordance with company standards
- Investigate issues with carriers and other outside parties
- Conduct business over the phone with truck drivers, trucking company owners, and dispatchers
- Contribute ideas to shape process improvement and company growth
- Assist Operations and brokerage team members on a daily basis with projects and tasks
- Any other tasks delegated by management

- Excellent verbal and social interaction skill sets
- Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate, as well as, self-manage
- Well organized and ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Comprehension of analytical reports to better familiarize with trends, markets, etc.
- Ability to identify issues prior to occurrence based on feeling and anticipation
- Ability to work independently, as well as, within a team setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Positive attitude toward learning and developing new skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Any experience within logistics/transportation/warehousing or related field
- Pursuit of a degree in Logistics/Business/Supply Chain or related field
- A blend of education and applied work experience may be considered
WORKPLACE & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work from a WayFinder office. In-Office work is required for all of our interns for learning and development purposes.
- Prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
