The Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) is a membership organization that supports and promotes the teaching of computer science, providing opportunities for K-12 teachers and their students to better understand computer science and to more successfully prepare themselves to teach and learn. CSTA is looking for a Marketing and Communications Intern who will be responsible for providing key administrative support to the Marketing and Communications Lead in the planning and execution of CSTA events and programs that support the ongoing professional development of teachers and ultimately improve the quality of teaching and learning of K-12 computer science.
Internship dates: Winter semester, January 2023 to May 31, 2023.
Schedule: 10-15 hours per week, flexible work days during the work week. Some evenings and weekends will be required during CSTA events.
Pay Rate: $15.40 per hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and execute social media campaigns and ensure alignment with the overall marketing campaign and association mission
Manage social media editorial calendar and post valuable, shareable content regularly, ensuring the association is positioned as an industry leader online
Responds and engages with comments and messages on social media channels in a timely manner
Actively monitors social media trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement
Manages social media channels during live events
Create engaging multimedia content (images and video) for social media campaigns
Lays out CSTA's email correspondence including but not limited to the CSTA Voice and CSTA event communications
Coordinates across departments to obtain the needed information for inclusion in email correspondence about events and programs to ensure full promotion
Builds out CSTA website content pages and adds alt-text to images in WordPress
Creates all graphics for CSTA event promotion according to CSTA brand guidelines and promotional templates
At the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
Develop social media campaigns
Measure the effectiveness of social media campaigns
Work proficiently in event, marketing, and non-profit software systems including, but not limited to Cvent, Hopin, Constant Contact, MemberNova, Canva, WordPress, and HootSuite
Practice excellent customer service skills
Contribute to building event promotion plans
Collaborate with internal stakeholders when gathering content
Execute an event marketing plan across multiple communications channels
