Director, Business Intelligence

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for an Director, Business Intelligence position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

The Director, Business Intelligence is responsible for building, developing, and advancing the company's approach to analytics and data based decision making through the implementation of data governance, business intelligence and process data mining. By driving these programs and utilizing innovative technologies, the Director will provide actionable insights and strategic guidance to senior leadership and key stakeholders. This individual will also build and lead a team responsible for maintaining and continually improving Fike's data management policies, standard KPI and operational reporting framework, and analytical request and execution processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence

  1. Define, execute, and shape a clear vision for how business intelligence can empower the company to achieve its objectives
  2. Define the short- and long-term strategies for the corporate BI/analytics program to ensure effective delivery of information that meets current and future requirements
  3. Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders across the company to identify business requirements, define KPIs, and develop data-driven solutions
  4. Work with stakeholders to define business and system requirements for new information technologies, particularly in the areas of BI, analytics, and data warehousing
  5. Drive the development of internal and external customer-facing BI solutions, dashboards, and reports to deliver insights and value
  6. Utilize advanced analytics techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities that drive business growth and efficiency
  7. Work with the Enterprise Architect to oversee the integration of BI tools with existing systems and ensure they provide comprehensive analytics capabilities
  8. Manage a team of data and process analysts, coordinating their work with other IT teams, and internal customers to achieve organizational goals

Data Governance

  1. Build the data governance roadmap to achieve the Enterprise Data Strategy, enhance efficiency, improve data quality, and drive competitive advantage.
  2. Develop and implement a data governance program and ensure data management practices are in place to support accurate and reliable data analysis
  3. Work with the Enterprise Architect to design and implement scalable data models and architectures to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain all key BI and data management policies and procedures
  5. Ensure the efficient utilization of data resources across different business units and global locations
  6. Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align data initiatives with the company's overall business objectives, ensuring that data supports and accelerates strategic goals

Process Data Mining

  1. Develop and implement a business process management program and technical solution that defines ownership and maintains accuracy as processes evolve
  2. Develop data mining capabilities that foster our ability to identify system issues and proactively analyze the impacts of technical, organizational and process changes.
  3. Determine efficient and effective uses of automated processes to improve business efficiency, provide previously unavailable data, and generate insights for the internal lines of business.
  4. Work with business process owners to understand and drive organizational change management through the use of data

Essential Skills:

Strong technical skills in business intelligence, data analysis, and process automation. Exemplary interpersonal, analytical and communications skills. Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff to manage a team's deliverables. Strong program and project management skills to deliver on team objectives. Requires creativity and priority management skills to accomplish a variety of projects. Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders, subject matter users, project team members, partners and vendors. Able to lead and motivate project teams and to work effectively at multiple levels within the organization. Ability to take action with minimum supervision and direction. Possess solid critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. Demonstrate the ability to hear all points of view and develop relationships. Ability to delegate and verify progress. Ability to move seamlessly from strategy to tactics, and back to strategy to get the job done. Be able lead effective and efficient meetings and utilize follow up skills to ensure attendees are all moving in the same direction.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit and use hands. Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or business administration and at least 7 years of related work experience in Business, Technology, Engineering or similar roles. Experience building reporting and analytics programs. Demonstrated experience in personnel management.

PREFERRED: Masters in Business Administration, prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
