Comagine Health is looking for a remote Junior Accountant to join our team! The Junior Accountant serves as an integral part of our Accounting team, providing critical support in managing the company's expenditures and payroll system. This role is designed for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a remote working environment, ensuring that vendors and employees are paid accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will contribute to the financial efficiency of the company through diligent accounts payable management, as well as serve as a reliable backup to the Senior Payroll Accountant using the ADP Workforce Now platform. Some of what you'll do:

Accounts Payable:

  • Process A/P functions, including employee expense reports.
  • Process check requests and vendor invoices.
  • Input and maintains electronic vendor files.
  • Maintain supporting documentation, including contracts, subcontracts, and agreements for recurring billing and payments.
  • Process necessary credit memos for A/R.
  • Maintain electronic files for accounting records.
  • Code and enter accounting information within electronic accounting system.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analysis for A/R projects.
  • Research and resolve A/P issues.
  • Work closely and in coordination with Senior Accountants and Project Accountants.

Payroll:

  • Serve as the primary backup to the Senior Payroll Accountant, ensuring payroll processing continuity.
  • Assist with payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now platform, including but not limited to the calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure employees are paid accurately with correct withholding and deductions.
  • Coordinate with Sr. Payroll Accountant and HR partners to ensure accuracy in payroll and payroll-related activities.
  • Backup for processing full payroll using Deltek software, CER reporting, and ADP.
  • Ensure quality control of earnings/pay and deductions.
  • Correspond with ADP and applicable government agencies regarding current jurisdictional requirements for setup and payment of taxes; payment of dues and/or invoices to said agencies, including ADP; accurate reporting and quarterly/year-end tasks
  • Process and submit payments for retirement, Health Savings, and Flexible Spending deductions withheld from employee wages.
  • Process HelpDesk Tickets for requests with Payroll, Timecards, and Expense Reports.
  • Reconcile General Ledger Payroll Accounts monthly/quarterly.
  • Process and reconcile all Leaves of Absence.
  • Maintain electronic files for payroll and accounting records.
  • Complete any other payroll-assigned tasks.

General:

  • Assist with accounting audit requests.
  • Back up for other accounting functions when needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of payment and payroll processes.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to streamline processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Understand and adhere to Comagine Health's code of business conduct and ethics, corporate compliance program, and related policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Participate in Comagine Health's performance excellence program and quality improvement projects as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in a related field may be substituted).
  • 5 years' experience in a related field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Specialist in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Candidates who reside in Pacific or Mountain time zones are preferred.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and/or Competencies

Intermediate proficiency in computer software skills including:

  • MS Office Suite proficiency (especially Excel).
  • 10-key by touch.
  • Automated accounting system software.
  • Skill and efficiency with data entry.
  • Presentation of software applications.
  • Familiarity with database software programs.
  • Intermediate proficiency in ADP software, including all add-on modules.
  • Entry-level proficiency with Deltek Costpoint (preferred).
  • Intermediate experience in producing work that is highly accurate, and demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Intermediate experience leading mid to large-size payroll processing.

Compensation Range: $50,000 - $67.000

The salary range posted reflects the range that Comagine is willing to pay for this position. Salary is determined by many factors, including but not limited to geographic location of where the employee will perform their job duties in addition to their knowledge, skills, education, and relevant work experience.
