This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will design and build the electrical systems for the avionics integration labs (AIL) for the Blue Origin Lunar Landers. The AILs will be used to test the vehicle avionics interfaces and software. Your focus will be on the lab architecture, hardware, and data acquisition.

Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Kent, WA.

Multiple positions available.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of the AILs.
  • Support a development environment with open box testing and card to card level testing.
  • Create and release drawings of the AIL hardware infrastructure, rack layouts, harnesses, breakout boxes/panels, power distribution, and grounding.
  • Identify and procure equipment, and coordinate with technicians for the build, assembly, and installation of equipment and harnesses.
  • Support the integration of flight avionics, hardware, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of avionics units under test within the AIL.
  • Support checkout of the avionics systems and solving technical problems.
  • Maintain configuration control of the drawings and the AIL configuration.
  • Support problem investigation and resolution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical degree
  • 2+ years industry experience with avionics systems testing
  • Ability to produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience designing avionics labs, electrical ground support equipment, and/or test assets for hardware in the loop testing
  • Proficiency with open box testing and FPGAs.
  • Experience testing communication and radio systems
  • Experience with Zuken, Windchill, and JAMA

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $96,480-$135,072
