POSITION SUMMARY:

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for helping to ensure the Milliman's ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and financial reporting rules. This role is responsible for analyzing, researching and resolving issues and addressing related tax and garnishment inquiries. This role specializes in payroll regulatory compliance across all states in which employees reside, and legal entities working with the Payroll Manager and will participate in special projects when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct payroll activities utilizing UKG Payroll including but not limited to:
  • Entry and maintenance of tax and data in UKG Payroll.
  • Calculate additional payroll-related items, including tax adjustments.
  • Register new tax jurisdictions and set up in UKG.
  • Review and submit data for tax returns and amendment filings to UKG including amendments.
  • Review and correct tax errors identified in the periodic and quarterly data transmission and filing.
  • Prepare reports as needed.
  • Perform account reconciliation against the general ledger.
  • Analyze and resolve discrepancies.
  • Research and respond to payroll tax-related inquiries from employees, agencies, and other internal/external parties.
  • Create and manage cases within UKG support and services site.
  • Manage tax notices from all tax jurisdictions.
  • Update SUI rates and create cases to notify UKG annually.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements to UKG payroll reports each payroll, to include all adjustment runs and all tax-related credits and debits not related to regular payroll processing.
  • Run quarterly and annual taxable wage/tax report out of UKG BI to determine where credit/debit for adjustment payrolls and credits/debits not related to regular payroll processing.
  • Work with Finance team to ensure GL is correct for all Payroll related adjustments and tax issues.
  • Assist in ensuring employee's state and local taxes are set up correctly.
  • Assist with making corrections to employee's taxes.
  • Assist with corrected W2's.
  • Identify, research, test, implement, and develop training materials on payroll tax procedures, employment tax processes.
  • Maintain internal policies and procedures in accordance with the law.
  • SME and resource for Payroll Specialists on coding employee taxes.
  • Support the Payroll Manager with other projects and tasks as required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate must have minimum of 2 years of experience with UKG HR/payroll.
  • The ideal candidate must have minimum of 2 years related experience in tax.
  • The ideal candidate must have minimum 2 years related experience in payroll processes.
  • The ideal candidate must have previous experience in working with enterprise HR and payroll systems.
  • The ideal candidate must have understanding of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related matters.
  • The ideal candidate must have working knowledge of payroll practices, tax and garnishment laws, and record keeping.
  • Must have the working knowledge of M365 suite.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work effectively.
  • Must have the ability to work well under time constraints.
  • Must be able to handle a high volume in a fast-paced environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • CPP or FPC certification.
  • Experience with a large multi-business unit organization.
  • Experience working in a shared services organization.
  • Advance level experience with Microsoft Access.

LOCATION:

This is a remote position. The expected application deadline for this job is June 30th, 2024.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this role is $72,000 to $142,000, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
